TV QR Codes That Turn Injury Ad Scans Into Qualified Cases

A TV QR code that opens a verified RCS conversation can screen an injury inquiry in the thread, tag the station and creative, and send complete intake to your CRM.

TV QR Codes That Turn Injury Ad Scans Into Qualified Cases

Someone was rear-ended last week. Their neck still hurts, the insurance adjuster keeps calling, and tonight your spot runs during the late news. The QR code sits in the corner of the screen and they point a phone at it. What happens next decides whether that airtime bought an intake or a bounce.

For most personal injury advertisers, the scan opens a web form or a landing page with a phone number. On a phone, at night, while hurting, a lot of people stop halfway. You paid for the scan and kept nothing.

MessageOS takes a different path. The QR opens a verified conversation in the native Messages app, the person answers a few tappable questions, and complete intake reaches your team only once the basics are captured. It is the same Click to Message door we build for every entry point, tuned for law firms that buy TV.

    Why the web form leaks

A form is a one-shot request. It asks for everything up front, cannot answer a question back, and rarely knows which station or creative sent the visitor. When it is abandoned, there is no thread to return to. When it is completed, your intake team still has to reach someone who may have already called the next firm on the next channel.

TV makes this worse. Inquiries cluster right after a spot airs, which is exactly when your intake staff is least able to respond to everyone at once.

What a verified RCS thread changes

RCS for Business lets a firm show up in Messages with its name, logo, and a verification checkmark after brand verification and carrier launch. RCS is live on all US carriers and on iOS and Android. That is channel availability, not a promise that every device renders every card.

Picture a made-up firm, Harbor Point Injury Law. The QR on its spot encodes an sms: deep link to the firm's agent, a path Google documents in its deep links guide. The scan opens a thread headed "Harbor Point Injury Law" with the logo and check. From there, suggested replies handle the basics:

    • What happened: "Car accident", "Slip and fall", "Work injury"
    • When it happened
    • Whether they were hurt and have seen a doctor
    • Where it happened, including the state
    • Whether they already have a lawyer

Each answer is one tap or one short reply. If they drop off, the thread is still there tomorrow. For more on how these taps work, see Click to Message explained and our guide to RCS for law firms.

    Attribution you can actually use

Give every spot its own short link in front of the deep link, with parameters for market, station, daypart, and creative. Google recommends a short link in front of agent URLs for QR codes anyway. The conversation starts already knowing it came from, say, the 6 PM news in Tampa running the "After the Crash" creative. That tag travels with the intake record, so you can compare stations on qualified cases instead of raw scans.

Send only complete intake to your CRM

An inquiry missing the incident date or state is a callback chore, not intake. MessageOS holds the record until the required basics are captured, then sends it to your intake CRM, for example Clio Grow or Lead Docket via API. Integration details depend on your setup, so we scope that in the pilot rather than promise it here.

    Legal advertising care

Messaging is advertising and intake, so the same professional rules apply. Most states base theirs on the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, particularly Rules 7.1 to 7.3, as adopted and amended by each state bar. In practice, that shapes how we build a thread:

    • No outcome promises and nothing false or misleading. Rule 7.1 covers communications about a lawyer's services.
    • No "specialist" or "expert" claims unless the lawyer is certified as the rules allow, and no unverifiable superlatives.
    • A clear opening note that messaging does not create an attorney-client relationship and is not legal advice.
    • The person starts the contact by scanning. Rule 7.3 limits solicitation, and a consumer-initiated scan is a different posture than a firm reaching out first.
    • Ask only the basics before a conflict check. Rule 1.18 covers duties to prospective clients, so detailed facts can wait for a lawyer.
    • Keep records of ad copy and message templates. Some states require it.

Every firm should confirm the rules of its own state bar. This section is general information, not legal advice.

Fallback is a decision, not a default

Not every phone that scans will open an RCS thread. If the device or carrier cannot, the RBM API does not silently convert the conversation into SMS. Your partner has to check capability and route fallback to SMS on purpose, with the same questions in plain text. MessageOS handles that routing. See RCS vs SMS for what changes.

Questions to answer before you pilot

About how many QR scans per month do your TV campaigns generate today? This sets the baseline and tells us how fast the thread must hand off to your intake team.

What does scan volume look like during your heaviest TV flight months? Peaks matter more than averages. The thread has to absorb a surge without a slower first response.

Do you track QR scans by market, station, or creative today? If not, the pilot is the moment to start. Unique links per spot change how you buy media next quarter.

Roughly how many QR visitors become intake-qualified or signed cases? Even a rough number gives us something honest to beat.

What must be captured before we create the matter or lead in your intake CRM? This defines the flow, within the limits of a pre-conflict-check conversation.

What would make the pilot successful: more leads, faster response, better attribution, or lower cost per case? Pick one primary goal. A pilot that tries to prove everything usually proves nothing.

    What to do next

If your firm runs TV, bring your answers to the six questions above. We will map your spots to entry points, design the intake thread with your compliance review, and scope the CRM handoff. Talk to MessageOS to set up a pilot.
